The Weiss Gallery in London are selling a painting of George Goring for £350,000. It was painted in 1581 by George Gower (1540 – 1596) who was the most prominent painter at the Court of Elizabeth 1. This George Goring was the second owner of Danny after it was rebuilt by his father. The painting was recently discovered in Belgium and has probably not been at Danny since the Civil War. Given the price, Richard has obtained an excellent copy on canvass and it is now displayed in the Great Hall.
